Global citizenship is, primarily, based on the human aspect of the concept of citizenship; Its role was to promote the right of all members of society to a decent life, particularly marginalized, vulnerable and disadvantaged groups, and to that end global citizenship education efforts sought to promote and disseminate the concept of active citizenship.

Accordingly, this module highlights the importance of the education and practice of active citizenship at the following three basic levels: individuals, civil society and the State.
